It's been making grinding noises for the last couple of weeks........so on the way to work tonight, I'd just pulled out of the 7/11 when I had no forward or reverse movement !!!

FARCK !!!
I managed to get 4th and I reckon I've cooked the clutch as well driving it up the hill to work. Real bad clutch smell when I finally got it here.

Does anyone know or have a spare 85 Hilux / Forerunner Gearbox just sitting around ??? I need it urgently !!!

Have you thought about having it rebuilt? At least then you know it should last a long time. An '85 model gearbox in good condition would be pretty rare from a wrecker I'd imagine.

Good luck!

It was only rebuilt 'bout 12 months ago......supposedly........as I was told before I had it put in !!

So NO

I'll try my luck with a second hand recoed one. Hopefully I should be able to get one for the right price.....then swap 'em over.

Then once the Ferozius is running again....and finances permit..think about getting it rebuilt then.

Sounds like you had your box rebuilt by the same guy who did mine. July last year at the cost of $800. After Xmas last year I rebuilt it again and replaced 1) the broken syncro ring that was left in, :x 2) the stripped output shaft locknut, :x :x 3) the reverse gear selector lever pivot shaft which was left loose during the rebuild and fell out on our xmas trip, resulting in no reverse gear for a couple of weeks, :x :x :x and 4) removed the extra syncro lock spring that was added just for good measure. :x :x :x :x

Thank god for workshop manuals, $50 very well spent.

Needless to say, the gearbox EXPERT ????????????? wont be getting any more business from me. :bad-words: :bad-words: :bad-words:

Yeah...............maybe I should try and find a Toyota Hilux manual...just for the gearbox and transfer case.......a Holden VN-VP Commodore manual for the engine..............a Daihatsu Feroza manual for the dash board stuff....................

TOO MANY MANUALS :!:

I believe marks adaptors have a kit that u can fit a toyota dyna gearbox up.
It would be stronger than a hilux gearbox :finger:

UPDATE

Have sourced a Deisel Gearbox from 85 Hlux to fit into the Ferozius
Problem is that it's in Sydney, and I gotta get it down to Melbourne !

Gearbox has been fully recoed for a fantastic price (Thanks JohnJohn)

Hopefully get it before the weekend and have the Ferozius back running.

It's gotta be drivable before my Trip to Toolangi on April 13th !!!
