looks like its come back t finally bite me. Circlip on the inner right axle in the diff housing has been munched and the splines at the end smoothed off. this has resulted in the axle sliding out all the time, dirt and water getting in and rust inside the housing. Obviously wasn't keeping a good eye on it, but.....
What's the verdict - as the centre is welded do u think its easier to replace the centre and axle or .....
gettin pissed with this paj - but it's a paj so sellings out at the moment.
Ideas or contacts gratefully accepted.

c'mon anyone at least give a sh-tstir answer.
I'm thinkin i'll patch er up for now as a centre and axle was quoted at $500, - if that was the whole cv i may consider it but is 500 reasonable for sydney?

Why replace the centre, has it damaged it having the circlip go through.
If the damage isn't too bad it will do another turn, remeber it is the front and only has intermittant use.

If you find that the centre is damaged and has to be replaced $500 is a fair price for a super select centre and long side axle.
They go for about $450 down here.
Make sure you get the correct ratio either 4.875 or 4.625.

i got a reply
Well, things may not be too bad after all. About 15mm on the end of the splines has been worn away but i managed to get the new circlip in but as the oil seal was cactus and will pick one up today.
Frank ive got the LWB Sept 88 NF 3.0 5Sp Man, from info here i'm fairly certain i've got 4.6's but i think i'll run with this one till it stuffs up further.
cheers, keep u posted
