Outer Limits 4x4 Board

OK Im thinking about hacking into my front guards on my lux for a bit more clearance.
My question is will I be able to weld in a little strip around the edge so I can still attach my rubber flares?
A local panel beater told me it cant be done without warping the sh!t out of the guards from the heat.

My other option is those rubber flares that attach to the outside of the guard I spoze like section B in this pic.

What web site did you get that pic from ??

I am going to cut the guards (front and rear) of my runner, when I get it running again. I have spoken to a panel beater in perth and he does not think it was a big deal.

I think if you take it to a panel shop that does body modifications, like cops, etc then they should be able to get the job done.

ausyota, I agree that you could just fit the ones in section B. Although the edge of the guard would be quite sharp and might need to be bent back on itself slightly to prevent this.

Keeping section B in mind, i cut my guards and then flaired them with a 600 mm shifter. This being the case, you could bend the guards to remove the sharp edge and still attach the flaires.

one problem with the B type flares is if you ever take them off you will have holes all the way round the outside of your guards.

the panel will have no strength without the return lip, the first time you brush it up against something it will fold up...

You should be able to weld a return strip on. you will need to tack it at either end and in the middle , keep working through dividing each section in half allowing time for the area to cool.

ie: _ _ _ _
run tacks then between tacks
_ _ _ _ _ _ _
and so on
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
untill all join
