Whats the easiest way? A mechanic told me today that it may be easier to take the engine out first

What do ya reckon?

personally just take the box out like you would any other auto keeping in mind the weight of it is extremely heavy

If your doing the usual aussie thing on the front lawn, you can split the transfer off the auto quite easy and it about halves the weight.
Transfer is still oil tight after splitting, not sure about auto.
I would definatly leave engine and remove box.

Transfer is oil tight, and I think the auto is to a certain piont, but I will be draining that first anyway. Hopefully there will only be a few litres left from the converter...

Thanks
