Ok so the troopie weighs nigh on 3 tonne when loaded for touring.
And you need at least double the weight of the vehicle as a guide for rated pull when buying a winch. That means i need something that will pull 13 000lbs at least.

I havn't seen any electric winches from anyone that will do the job. So when i get my arse into gear and buy a winch, where am i going to get one that will be up to the task!

I could use a PTO winch but they cost a fortune if you can't get a hold of a second hand one

maybe i should put the old girl on a diet. Has anyone else with this vehicle had any success with winching?

Warn make a 15,000lb electric winch, but you really wont need it. You could probably get away with using a 10,000lb with a snatch block or for piece of mind get the 12,000lb.

Using a snatch block will halve the load on the winch, although you still run the risk of breaking the cable. Make sure that the cable is rated high enough for what you want to do.
