Need one of these, oil pressure is a bit low due to extra heat created by turbo. I know AXT build one, but was wondering if any other mob do them??

Gday Phil
Im presuming you are using 15w40 oil...not to mention the extra heat generated....changing viscosity of oil at running temperature.......also the turbo is robbing some pressure as the flow rate back to the sump has increased, i would suggest a finer oil filter, plumbed to go infront of the rad. maybe they offer a cooler aswell...that shouls assist in cooling the oil.
The factory 1hdt runs 55psi cold and 35 hot in the main galery, and this doesnt seem to be enough for a 4200 redline...a friends 1hz runs 60 hot without turbo/90 cold...how does that compare to your figures...
This seems to be better and closer to my old 2h figures...but as long as you have 10 psi per 1000 rpm, it is enough....and the more flow created, the better the heat transfer back to the sump. There is an oil to water cooler in the block aswell....std on the 1hz.

get on to BBM or RPM or whoever had just buy the cooler and filter adaptor, and see enzed/pirtek for the plumbing. should work out cheaper than a kit, all you have to do is fabricate the brackets.

are your EGT's ok? running too much boost? the oil-water oiil cooler should be coping.

I use 15w-40 oil now, but was talking to a diesel mechanic today, and he said, straight up, that since i have t/charged it, bump the oil up to 15-50, and definately put an oil cooler on it.

Andrew,
Those figures sound fairly high. I think you mean kPa, not psi. Mine runs about 55-60kpa at idle (manual says above 29kPa at idle), and will only reach about 180-200kPa at approx 3000rpm (manual says 245kPa at 3000rpm). There is 15psi for every 100kPa.

Brian,
The EGT's are good, max's out at 560deg., 4th gear, 145km/h, at bout 11psi. I like the idea of a kit oil cooler, as it will all bolt in, yes, i am getting lazier by the day :D
