hey guys just bought a aftermarket mechanical temp gauge (auto meter)
any way looking through the holden manual it says that there is a temp gauge sender unit and a coolant temp sensor on the sensor there are wires and on the sender unit it looks like there isn't any so if i plug this in the block

a - will the temp gauge stop working
b - will this affect my ecu

any help would be good

in my hilux i put an autometer gauge

leave the coolant sensor in and remove the temp sender, the temp sender thread is smaller the the autometer thread so you have 2 drill and tap it , these are under the throttle body

didn't really want to drill a hole in the motor but if it has to be done any way how much for the tap and what thread is it

You'll have to leave the coolant temp sensor in as this is for the computer.

yea relise that but i would of thought that they would of designed this around the engine so that you don't have to drill holes

Yeah its just that autometer temp sender unit is a lot bigger then the

std temp sender unit the manifold is alloy and easy to drill and tap

not sure of the size just take the gauge with u and get a drill and tap to suit they aint that dear otherwise try a electronic gauge
