PLEASE DO NOT BADGER ME WITH V8 ADVICE

Am looking to drop into a BJ42, diesel atm, split transfer case - considering an auto - $friendly alternative to V8 want EFI (no carby issues) dont like idea of gas only cause limited range

After general info like-
adaptors i guess are available for 4sp toyota box (marks)
do engine mounts need moving
is there chassis clearance issues like some V8s
does firewall need reshaping
will a 3.5l diesel radiator keep it cool (its a good'un)
will current fuel tank and lines be ok to use - need extra sub tank nr engine for EFI?

cheers scott

Can answer a couple of your Qs.

Your radiator will be fine.

Yes you will need a surge tank nr the motor asI doubt your tank would be baffled.

Check the marks site for adapters http://www.marks4wd.com/

At a guess Id say youd have to cut off your old engine mounts and fab up/get some from marks/CRS.

Doubt you'll have to do much to the firewall. If they will fit in a lux bay with no dramas I cant see it being a problem in a cruiser. My 6 is sitting on the floor. I can measure it if you like.

DUnno if Marks do an adaptor for V6 to Cruiser... but they certainly do Commo V6 and T700 to Cruiser split t/ case (on Marks site look under 70 series Cruisers- Bundera).

I'd go this way anyhow cos you almost always get the box free when you buy V6 anyhow.

I have a friend running a Commo V6 and Auto in his SWB FJ70.

Thing goes like a cut snake, it is good. And another mate has the same in a dual cab lux, they are pretty good performance wise, they are very happy with them.

Not sure on the adaptor for your box, think they do, as they did for my 5 speed (been a while since i have looked). If only they did one for my box, to the 1UZ Quad Cam V8, then I'd be a happy chappy...

Hey Scotto maybe we should "borrow" my wife's supercharged V6 and see if she will fit ;) :D

Seriously though I have often thought this would be a good conversion

me too and reckon
Plenty of info about, thanks for the link Dazz.
It will be a little different too and haul ass over the 3B turbo'd or not.
Look at Gavs big red hilux for eg...
Might not be a hot rod V8 but I like doing things a bit different anyhoo.
Next comes reality. Maybe I wont want it once I can DRAG my ass up anything :D
Still plenty of researching to do...not that I have written off forced induction or 4 more cylinders

'Snowy' (not 100% on his real name, but Gerling?) with the purple 40 series (Nissan Trials, Woodpecker etc) has been running a Commo V6 and auto for sometime now.

If you could get onto him somehow Im sure he could give you some advice

Yeah right...I thought it was V8 (according to Tuff Truck vid?)
Maybe 4B Monthly can help me in the right direction there....
