Extractors

I have a 1300 G13a in my '89 Sierra. Ever since I have had it it has had extractors on it, they developed some cracks and got louder and louder (at first it sounded cool, then the lawn mower effect was not so cool). Needing to replace them, I booked it in to local exhaust shop.

My issue is, I had 4-2-1 extractors and they have now been replaced with 4-1 (not my choice). I remember reading somewhere (yes I did a #$%#ing search!!!!) that the 4-1 extractors will not give as good performance, is there anyone who knows if this is true?

To me it feels like I have lost some on hard acceleration, but this could be psychosymatic (all in my head) or just because it is quieter. Has anyone had a similar experience, or gone from 4-1 to 4-2-1 and found an improvement.

4-1 extractors give better top end performance
4-2-1 extractors give better low down mid range performance

you will have definately lost some low down performance but your top end will have improved

So, if top end is improved highway type driving should improve, if bottom to mid range improved better offroad. Does this mean that I might have a better drive to a good 4WD track but then not do as well as I used to ;)

yes that should be right

but it also depends on what exhaust system you are running any engine work etc as to how much difference it actually made
