Ok, Just finished my first tank of diesel in the rangie(Non Turbo 4BD1). 1182km = 91.24L (7.7L/100km) Still had 30L in the tank as well. Now if I could only find some sill tanks I would have a decent range.
Considering half of that was around town/short trips I was impressed.
Makes the wifes cruiser (4.5L Pet) look a bit sick at 624km = 135L (21.6L/100km)

7.7l/100km is very impressive!
Going through the first tank in my new tdi now. 250kms off first quarter of a tank so range should be about 1000km a tank. Although i have noticed that the guage seems to be dropping quicker the further down it goes. Anything below 11l/100kms and I'll be happy.

7.7l/100km
I couldn't get near that now with my 200 Tdi disco. Best seems to be about 11l/100km driven gently.
What tyre size, lift, gearbox and extras do you have ??

What's fuel economy!!!!
Out of the 4 Rangie I have owned, the worst was my 84 with the Chrysler box (expected). On average it was chomping through 22L/100 kms, off-road well it would be more than 40L/100 kms. Took it to fraser Is. when I had it and I used over 78 litres in a day and we did only 170kms
Even Aquarangie was thirsty. But it's my driving style that will detrmine the fuel consumption (fast and stop).
Might of cost me a small fortune (fuel) but I enjoyed every minute of it

I read a list once about how you know you're a rangie driver. One of the top reasons was:
"When fuel economy is something other people worry about..."

(BTW, hi to all, have been watching this forum for ages, but this is my first post)

I'd get about 250k's from 65 litres.
Once I drove to Warrnambool from Chelsea and got 350k's!
Mind you, speedo's always been out, 32"s on 3.54 gears, then 32"s on 4.1 gears, then 35"s on 4.1s!
I think i'd be actually getting more as the speedo is now reading lower than what i'm really doing, according to a GPS.

Wow - 7.7 is pretty good. I consistently get between 9 and 11L/100 in my 4BD1 110 (combination of city and highway). But it would have a lot more weight and a lot worse drag coefficient than your rangie. Everyone else I have spoken to with a 4BD1 (mostly 110's but one really heavy rangie) gets somewhere in the same range as me. The worst I ever got was 13L/100 for part of a leg when I drove down from townsville and was trying to sit at the speed limit (110+speedo error - so 120) with the strongest headwind I have even experienced.
The 2.25D in my 109 IIA usually does about 9L/100.

I towed a horse float and 2 horses from Wantira to Weribbee and back across the West Gate and city link. About 200km from that tank. The 4.2 was guzzling a lot of fuel climbing out of the tunnel.
That was on 31"s.

Hey Maggot, do you have any pics of the engine bay? Did you do the conversion or buy as is. I am keen to fit an isuzu to my 85 rangie coz at this rate of consumption its costing too much to and from work.
