air locker problem.

got an issue with my rear air locker
three weeks ago, got a diff place to install a new air locker
two weeks ago driving, i tore the air line to the locker.
got home, fixed air line
last week went driving, locker worked fine.
yesterday, went to engage locker and the following happened

air pressure dropped rapidly
heard air venting from my diff breather.

here is my thinking
possibility a) got mud down the broken air line and this has damaged a seal
possibility b) the guy who put the locker in didn't put the brown o'ring in properly and the air is escaping past that.

anybody be able so shed some light\\???

Just guessing here but a possibility is maybe when you tore the line out you may have damaged the bulkhead fitting in some way.
Another thing that may have happened (and it did to me) is that the steel air line in the diff may have been bumped when fitted and touched on the crownwheel just slightly and has taken a few weeks to rub right through.

But if you paid to have it fitted only 3 weeks ago take it back to em (and dont say about how you ripped out the line :) ).

what he said..
as the air is going out the breather and not into the 'chamber' of the locker...makes sense

when you put the new line in, did you use a new olive and new air line inner support tube?

is the shop that installed it experienced with air lockers? if they haven't followed the instructions to the letter then there may be problems with the installation.

do a search for air+locker+problems and you should get a lot of useful tech info to arm yourself with before you head back to the shop.

cheers

a mate had the same problem when the mechanic didnt rotate the center while giving the 3 small allen key screws(holding the air ring and brown o-ring) 1 0r 2 turns each until firm but not tight. you also need to use locktite on them. A lot of people just put the center together and tighten up the screws. which results in the plate being off center and either not sealing or leaking soon after. I think the hose coming off was a coincidence.
