shockies hitting trailing arm

when i had my rear sway bar removed i found that when the rear axel is at extreme articulation the trailing arm was hitting the shockie and actually put a dent in it .
and when i broke a shockie arb did not believe me that the trailing arm could hit the shockie.
has anyone else had this poblem.

Yes mine did the same but without disconnecting the rear sway bar. ARB said the same to me, i showed them the yellow paint on the trailing arm and they still didnt believe it.

Yes mine do to (even with the swaybar on). On the Koni's they have a plastic cover over the piston (top half) and there is a definite mark in the plastic from the trailing arms.
Also if you look at the trailing arms they are not parallel to the chassis but on a slight angle and this is why at full flex it gets very close or touches the rear shocks. The thicker the shock the more damage it will do especially to a steel topped monotube like an OME, fortunately the Koni's are quite thin so the contact is minimal.

thier was a farely decent dent in one of my ome shocks are you going to try the ranchos on your rig, have you got your front locker yet and how much did it cost you , my mate has a landcruiser 80 sieries and has front and rear lockrites from 4wd systems they are quite noisey in operation but he swears by them , he has done a free wheeling hub conversion on his cruiser

The locker is a sad and sorry tale at the moment there are 30 Detroits half done at the moment but the dudes machinist (expert on these) has gone awol. So he tells me he needs a couple of months. Still trying to get official confirmation from ARB about their locker. If they announce it I'll wait for that one instead even though it will be towards the end of the year.
I'll be getting a b/l done soon then will look at the shocks (Rancho's).
