Hey Guys,

Im interested in building a storage drawer system for my GQ SWB. Anyone done this or have any pics of ones that have been done..... I know people are gonna say that its too small so dont bother, but Im gonna do it, but just wanted to see if there are any existing ones out there...

You are doing yours with the back seats still in right?

The only ones ive seen so far are where people have removed the back seats

Another thing Id like to do is somewhere incorparate one of those flexi water tanks....

For your water tank. After the draws are built. Leave a spot for a 20lt jerry to standup on either side (but left is good). Get one with a bung in the bottom. Then connect a bit of flexible plastic hose to this, with a ball valve on the bottom. This should work well. And if you make it so the hose is about the same length as the hieght of the jerry can. You can store the hose by jamming in it through the handle. This should stop any leaks if the valve is knocked.
It will also help the water flow better, when you lower the hose to get water out. (more water above hieght of tap, means higher flow)

I have a 63L water tank in my lwb with a flow jet pump. The pump can be mounted anywhere you want and you have pessured water
I had the tank without the pump and was crap go the pump
cost of pump was $85 and i have ply wood with marine carpet coving it built on a steel frame

MY dad just uses a small in line pump on his under car tank. It works but is alittle slow to having about a 1m of head pressure. But he has just brought another pump and I think he is going to use it as a boster about half way along. The latest one he brought from a camping show for $45 (even come with a spout and toggle switch). But this mob have a shop in Ferntreegully (Melb) somewhere, I do have there cataloge so could find out. The other he just brought from the local caravan shop.

I have seen one good setup with the tap that I plan on doing. It had a plastic panel, with a spout and tap. In the first part of the tap, you turned it and that activated the pump. Then turn it more and it ajusted teh flow. The one I seen was on LWB and he had the jerry can mounted to the front of some draws along the cargo barrier. He ran the hos and wiring along the inside of the panel. and just above where the speaker wires enter the left rear door, he drilled some bigger holes (in both the door and body). Then feed the hose thru and mounted it on trim at the top. Another good thing with this was the spout could be pushed, so it was pointing straight up. SO less likly to be broken.

I will try and get a pic. (well I want one so will see if I can get one)

that shit you can mix and match, get it cut to size.

Im at the monent in messuring and desgine stage of a set of draws for the back of my MK shorty. Its going to be a low draw set up (no more then 200mm high) to hold tools and stuff. The top is going to be a slider set-up to slid the spare wheel in and out for easy access. Let who ever is interested in desgin when finished in new year. Hard part is going to find the slider hard ware to take the weight.

Its taken a while but I finally found some pics of a storage system in a gq shorty. Probably too late now but it may help someone.

If you want a pump, use a shur-flo RV type pump. These are a small three diaphragm pump with a pressure cut off switch incorperated. They use these in caravans and boats etc and can run more than one outlet with the pressure switch, but would reccomed a backup swithc as well. These run about 15 LPM and will feed a twine heat exchanger ($40) and plumb yourself.
you can pick the pumps up from Whitworths (ripoff) marine for about
$130 when they are on special, or for a little more from twine.
When the pump stope working, a diagpram repair kit for $30 will fix it up and keep it running for another few years.

yeah its pretty basic I know. I can't see how the boxes don't last, thats all i ever used before my current drawer setup and they were pretty tuff. This setup pretty much just keeps everything from flying around the place. I particularly like where the fridge is, nice and low. The top section with the green bag is for the tent, one of those single pole jobbies which looks quite neat. Just some ideas anyway.
