Attempting to remove a seized alternator from a 300tdi. I find the previous owner has rounded the head of the bottom mounting bolt probably due to wrong sized spanners.

Anyone suggest any alternatives to pulling the intercooler and using a bolt extractor or welding another bolt onto the head of the rounded one to get it out.

file 2 sides and then use open ended spanner

Get yourself a set of METRIC brand spanners there are a little expensive but are perfect on rounded bolts they fit both imperial and metric bolts so you will only need to carry one set in the landy too.
