Surface Rust on Chassis

How bad is it, my hilux chassis has been sitting in the weather for a few months and the whole chassis is covered in rust now. How bad is this and whats the best way to remove it?
Surface rust, not normally a prob.
Wire brush, rust convertor and a good anti rust paint.
