MQ MK spring Difference

I was just on the phone with ARB wanting to order some new front spring for my 85 SWB MK Patrol.

I explained that it was the turbo deisel with winch bar and winch, dual bartteries etc and they said that they recommend the heavier duty ones which I am happy with. He then mentioned that the drivers side gets an AA and passenger gets a AB type spring due to weight distribution and I agreed again cause it currently leans heavily to the drivers side.

Now that all that was agreed on I want to place the order for two front spings, bush kits and new u-bolts I asked one question that stumped him.

I asked whether the springs were to suit an 85 model and he said that they were all the same. I explained that my current springs are the same thickness all the way through and do not narrow down at the shackle mount like the MQ that I have seen. He said that my springs must not be orginal and that I sould just replace the shackles at the same time.

I replaced shackles about 4000kays ago and they were a straight swap. I asked for shackles for my vehicle and they gave me the same as what I had.

Do I have to replace my shackles to suite the old man emu springs or have other bought straight swap overs from them in the past??

if your headlights are rectangular, you need the offset shackles to suit not the straight ones from an mq

I've been changing springs tonight ;)
