You all, ( people in other states then QLD) keep talking about getting larger tyres engineered for approval

Is this possible in queensland.
For example my 35's on the 80 serries.

I have been told that it can not be done.
don't know if this is true or they just don't want to do it.

Thanks
Steve

it can be up to the individual engineer to decide but it seems to be best when you feed him full of info like largest factory tire, rim size, vehicle mass, carrying capacity
there are vehicle body differences with toyotas like ute, wagon, shorty
i know of one rover hybrid in vic engineered with 38's

how did he manage that.
I got a booklet sent to me the other week from the department of transport.

Can't seem to find it right now.

Interestingly it stated that width was not a problem, from memory you could go about half as wide again as the widest tyres that came standard.
The hight, or rolling diametre increase is what they were against.
Think it was 15mm higer than largest tyre that came standard.

Anyway what ever it was I did calculations on a couple of different brands of tyres and there specs

Found out that not even a 285/75/R16 is legal on a 80 serries landcruiser let alone 315/75/R16. It was so close it was not funny.

talken to tyre mob and they said they relised this but said it was so close that after some wear it is within tolerance and they did not stand out as large.

This does depend on tyre brand however.

Anyway, would love to make my rig legal
Any ideas
If not to bad. the 35's aint going anywhere.
