Front and rear are the same, but I was told to try to keep the crown and pinions together as a matching pair as they wear in together.

his springs have sagged on the back and the diff twisted under load going up a very rutted section hopefully new springs will fix

ok, I broke my pinion a few weeks back on an OL trip and it was my first trip on the 35s I just put on. I thought the extra stress of turning these things might have been one of the reasons for it, but also from looking at the brake it looks like it was slowly going/metal fatigue.

Very common for the 1977 and earlier the break the pinion shaft at the end of the spline ( pre 1978 coarse spline ) . 1978 and later had the fine spline pinion shaft and were heaps stronger.

Thanks Wally
sorry, just funny that I can say that and get away with it!
Yeah I replaced my coarse spline diff with a later model full floater fine spline so hope to not have that problem again.
