engine dilemma

I'm in dire need of a new power plant for the lwb and wondering what people might do in my situation
I had planned an engine conversion from day one but with the motor the way it is now its a need more than a want
I work 7 days a week so won't be doing it myself. Mud4b of suziworx is keen to do it though
Mud had some jimny 1.3 efi import front cuts coming which seemed perfect but they never showed
So now I don't know what to put in it
Vit conversion is great but front cuts are so rare now they are stupidly priced
The 4age is cool but since its all custom and he's never done one before Mud isn't real keen to try it fair enough
Mud4b does keep talking up the capp 600cc turbo but I'm afraid that the extra weight of a lwb + the fact I'm not removing any weight will mean it goes like crap
What other options are there in reality
I need something powerful and torquey, 1600cc or less, efi, able to be a reliable dd and loaded to the balls for camping. Not too worried about revvy motors cause I have rockhoppers.
What diesels do people put in
I'm just wondering what's out there cause the common avenues are kaput
Thanks

Greg's 660cc goes pretty hard. It drives the 34s with no dramas even being able to hit decent highway speeds. Also the lighter weight of the engine makes up for the extra weight in the lwb. Also the blow off from the turbo is pretty cool

sounds sweet, but didn't greg have drama's with trying to get it engineered? dunno what u wanna do mick, but if ya want a DD i'm guessing that road legal is a good idea. i think greg's issues were emissions stuff???? i know there's heaps of stuff, prolly in greg's buildup thread

don't know I think he was just a sooky lala
he was also a bit worried about a few other things too. Different states will require different things for mods as we all know so it is definetely worth having a look into

Try the nissan motors in the pulsars maybe. I think the CA16 is the same bolt on as the CA18 so the silvia gbox should work for you.
Try these guys
http://www.japparts.com.au/products/gearboxes.html
These have it in stock.
I also found a G13B auto gbox on there for $110 ?? I believe Christover was looking for one of these.
cheers

i have seen a LWB with a hyundai exel EFI 1.5 in it. went pretty good. these are as cheap as to buy from a wreckers and ya should be able to bolt a suzi box to it.

Rotazuk, like the diesel idea.
Just wondering if the t50 is a bolt up behind the 2ct or do you have an adapter/custom bellhousing ? as i have access to a 2ct was considering something different.
thanks

A mate had a 1.8 Izuzu turbo diesel from a Gemini, went well. Had transfer case strength issues though.

Alright not having had much to do with oil burners before and knowing squat about them can someone tell me what would be required to perform the 2ct conversion.
2ct Engine
t50 box
...............
Wiring etc
Would you want a whole donor car
Posted: Mon Dec 13, 2004 5:35 pm
by Rotazuk
There is not much wiring to get it going , just the alt and starter as any other car . A diesel is stoped by killing the fuel so instead of ing to the coil it goes to a fuel shut off valve . Mine has a turbo timer on it and a glow plug timer . It does not start without the glow plugs when cold but sweet as once warmed up a bit .
Off the donor you may want that timer , or buy aftermarker , and the tach pickup . Since there is no points there is no trigger for the tach . I don't have one wired up , anoys the hell out of me , but get the sensor of the donor car to wire up . Its a trigger sometimes off the injector pump pulley I think .
Someone with more knowledge will be able to give you more info .
Cheers

I AM APPROVED TO FIT A 2CT INTO A ZOOK.
you can use the toyota 2 wheel drive gearbox behind it ..its about 50mm longer than a sierra....
you can wire the tacho through the alternator.it does need to be moded...
how did you go with the brake booster?
