34's on Vitara?

How much would I have to lift a Vitara to fit 34 Simex's?

I understand that the Simex's are large for their size (if that makes any sense)

Any input would be appreciated....

gonzo did a fair bit of cutting to fit his 33"s on his vit.

too much lift isn't good for a vit, unless you go SAS and then anything is possible.

Funny you should mention that

How about 34's on a Vit with no lift?

check out the November and December issues of petersen's.. they have photos of a 2 door vitara (sidekick) on 35x13.5 krawlers... they look like they fit neatly in there. that should give you an idea about what will and won't fit.

run no guards and remove the firewall and ya can fit 44's*

*i am drunk so take no responsibility for broken cv's and axles...........the pos standard vitara gear cant even handle 30's, so 44's might be pushing the friendship ;)

The standard vitara gear can handle 30"s... thats a bit harsh....

Just cos it broke on 30"s cos you were abusing it earlier on 32"s doesnt count

:P

:D

should be on the road later this week, if I can get up there to finish it

and it has 20mm spring spacers in the front, so it is lifted :?

When it is SAS'd I will lower it back to standard and run 35 Centipedes

Two things come to mind when I read this thread.

One is POP the other is the sweet smell of a burnt clutch!

I like the additional floor air conditioning. For a better flow you just wind the window down a fraction.

me thinks he is replacing the vit transfer with a sierra case with rockhoppers

Yes can't see me going very far off road until SAS and Sierra transfer...

Oh and the "vents" have been attended to......wouldnt brag about the welding but they have been sealed...sort of....

despite the small lift on the front, did you end up having to cut and remake the front body mount?

No but the steering doesn't have as much lock as it used to. Tyres were hitting chassis which I wasnt as eager to cut :?

Whats the backspacing on the rims

Dont know about the backspacing.

NOTE: Whilst the vehicle is at OVERKILL, all welding (so far) is the result of my own feeble attempts. Any structural welding will be done by SAM, which will probably be TIG and of VERY high quality

Don,t rockhopper Make a 6-1 for the vit case ?

yes, but it has no high range reduction

a serria with a s3 is much more useful

I C , Do you still run the 5.12 gears in the diffs with the sierra transfer ?

be a bit screemy on the freeway ? series 3 is 1.7 in high range ?

Just wondering :)

I would have thought a standard sierra tcase be almost good enough if you've kept the 5.12 diffs... it's still about 27:1 in high and 42:1 in low.

Even taking into account the 34"s that's lower than stock sierra gearing by a fair bit both high and low range - too much in high range.

Of course if you're swapping diffs anyway then you may be able to drive it on the highway with the s3.

I think that S3 + 5.12 with real 34's will work out alright.....time will tell tho

I'm running S3 with 4.1 and 34s and am about 3800 at 100km/h. Droopypete has the S3 and 5.12s I think and his 1.6 is screaming along at around 4500 I think with his 33s
