Hi
Well no luck with an engine to swap in place of my mates 12r so we pulled the old on apart and found it had swallowed something in no 1 cyl . Can anyone tell me or point me to the torque values for the cylinder head bolts and the crank journal and conrod bolts . Will try and put it back together this week .

Cheers
Chris

Hi
Thanks for that . Will get the motor back togther then he can go and find himself a manual for it . You never think you will need one until its too late .

He has taken a punt and got a second have 12r from a toyota and hopes to swap out a piston . Did Daihatsu change the block casting when they made there motors ? Whats with the casting over the flywheel etc . New to Daihatsu I am .

Cheers
Chris

Daihatsu never touched the petrol motors, they were supplied in long form direct from Toyota.

the bell casting on the block is only on the 12R, the 18R has a flat block end with no bell. You can get a extension housing to mate an 18R to the 4 speed box, but unless you plan to keep the rig for a while, it is easier to keep the little 12R in there.
