hi all

need some help regarding my feroza, i had a tow bar fitted with a flat pin seven plug. When i wired up the trailor soon as i turn on the tail lights it blows the fuse for the tail lights.

for some reason it makes the whole system live so if it didn't blow the fuse all the light would come on the trailor the whole she bang

i had a mate look at it, there was some serious head scratching going on. so is there any tricks to wire up the trailor plug on the feroza

as i have no tail lights working on the trailor every thing else works till we connect the tail light then boom goes the fuse


any help would be appreciated

hmmm.. a flat 7 pin hook up.... ok, make sure you check your ground on the trailer itself AND on the feroza. gotta have a ground on both just to ensure that you eleminate any crossfeed. electrics are a bitch... the best way to do this i think is to honestly just tear it all apart, get a wire probe, check what is what... and wire it into the plug one at a time when you figure out what it is, i.e. ground, right, left, and brake lights. should only be 4 wires that you use.... if its the same as here in the states. lol. then for the trailer itself.... you gotta get under there and run each wire to its exact location. a hint, brake wire is usually split, thats how you can tell if its a brake wire or a leftie/righty wire. also, i am assuming that you dont have a brake controller on the feroza.... if you do... that makes things quite a bit more complicated. like i said though, best bet is to tear it all apart and go through it one at a time which is a ptia but its usually the best method. good luck

3 places I would check, all looking for the same thing, 1 or 2 strands of wire not correctly into the screw down terminal, and touching an earth somewhere.
1 check the plug on the vehicle.
2 recheck the plug on the trailer
3 check each of the tail/clearance lights

Check also anywhere where the wiring goes through metal, look for chafing.
Check to make sure the fuse is the correct rating.
Make sure the plugs are wired correctly, That the earth wire isnt connected through the plug to the tail light feed.


PV, Oz is obviously a bit different to the US. The minimum is 5 wires, Stop, Tail, left,right, earth. The extras are electric brakes, and auxillary power. Then of course, there are the 12 pin flat connectors.
