37's....

Bodylift *wink wink*
Springlift aswell

But whether you lift it or not you will probably need to trim the guards...

I don't see why you would be knocked back on the body swap but then again I live in NSW so it's different

Mate, I'd say a few inches of lift or body chopping then some gearing so you can actually turn them.....

Don't have a hilux so can't say specifics.

Cheers

a set of 4.88 diff's or even better 5.29's

I havent got 37's or lower diffs but you will need em for sure.

Maybe some transfer case gearing for in the bush too. Either dual cases or crawler gears.

well im thinkin of puttin the daihatsu on hold till i get back from the canning stock route in june, so im toyin with puttin my cruiser diffs underneath the lux, theres the gear ratio done......mmmm..6.1's

and the 4runner body as well, bobbing and dovetailing the rr styleside too

dropped hangers front, ext shackles all round, and XD falcon springs in the back end

and then the 37's too

does that sound ok???

All you have to do is go see an engineer to approve it. I have done something very similar. I can give you the number of the guy who is doing mine. PM me if you want the number.

has anyone actually dove tailed a style side tray here b4????

i know bobbing has been done heaps, but i wanna go that lil bit different

do you think it would be better to tapere the existing tray floor or make a new floor with a tube structure and then just taper in the style sides on that???

Someone here had issues with placement of taillights on their tray, ADR's say they have to be so far from corner at back of vehicle.... certain height etc.. call an engineer they will give you the facts, afterall they are going to pass it not the OL crew...

You know im keen on the bobtail! how would you fit the tail gate in or would it be done away with? Do you have a link to any pics or anything so i can get an idea of what you mean?

Outside edge of tail lights can be 400mm in from outside of vehicle as long as they are 600mm apart.
I have looked into this as Im building a tray with the corners cut off on the 45.

i have 45 degree cuts on my tray, i mounted the lights just behind the cut, however i think it would be fine to mount it at the very rear as long as u dont go over board with the angles, main reason i didnt do that was cuase my main rails are cut on a 45 degree angle as well so visibility is limited ;)

*note lights are zip tied on in that pic but thats where i mounted them when i put em on properly

and ELMO say NO to body lift  spring lift and guard chopping all the way

Aza I think you will find that technicly the way you have mounted your lights is illegal.
You need to have a certain degrees visibilty of the lights (cant remember the exact figure) and being set back so far your angle of visibilty on the inward side of the lights is probably not enough.
Paul.

I cant quite rememeber myslef and I was looking the other day. 80 degrees from top and bottom and 15 degrees from both side rings a bell but Im not sure.

He will get away with it though, how many tradesman ute do you see with less visability

completely different to cutting the ends off at 45 degrees

you actually taper the entire body inwards from the cab back, as well as bobbing the end off too

Check this link and have a look at the green dodge, its the middle picture, 3rd row down

http://4wheeloffroad.com/2004ultimatead ... ndex1.html

i reckon it looks really cool

with how the tray is that is the best spot for them, that is where i can get the most visibility, how they were before on the old tray u could see them about just as much and that was the one the car came with ;) if i get picked up i'll tell u about it ;)

Like I said "technicly" its illegal but you are unlikely to get pulled up.
In my case I have to have everything spot on because I will be getting inspected for my SAS.
Paul.

This years Ultimate Taco ran the same sort of dovetail & bobtail.

The Tacoma Extracab is alot closer to your hilux than the dodge.
