Hey hair dressers got a couple of questions to ask.
My mate just informed me last night that his new ride is on the boat over and is due to arrive tomorrow. It’s a 05 model renegade (sp?). Just in general is their anything he has to look out for if he starts wheeling it straight away? Like the 6sp manual, are their any problems with water crossings? I know DIY is scared to put his auto anywhere near puddles. He’s talking about slapping some 33’s on straight away, will he need two inch lift to fit them.
Any info would be greatly appreciated
PS: I know these are noobie Q’s, but I couldn’t be bothered search.

he wont fit 33's with only a 2" lift, maybe 32's....the autos have a problem with thier breather location, i have no idea on the 6 speed.....

Yeah I didn't realsie he need so much lift. Suppose my line of thought is from DIY's rig where he only has 3 inchs with 37's. That guard lift just changes everything though doesn't it.
I'm still trying to figure out what the advantage of the 6 speed is?

larger forearms from changing gears more often
and maybe a lower first gear ratio

Cool that's good to know. When I was talking to him he said it's a sports model which it is and he was kinda implying that the 6sp is like what you find in a Dunnydore.
Do you guy's know what diff's they come with? Is it D30 front D44 rear?

From what I've read its a 6-Speed German made NSG370 transmission from the Mercedes M-class.
6 forward 1 reverse
Max torque input 272 ft/lb
1- 5.014:1
2- 2.831:1
3- 1.789:1
4- 1.256:1
5- 1.000:1
6- 0.828:1
Reverse 4.569:1
AX15#"s for comparison (Older TJ Wranglers)
1 - 3.83:1
2 - 2.33:1
3 - 1.44:1
4 - 1.00:1
5 - 0.79:1
Looks like the 6 speed has a granny low 1st gear and 6th is a fraction higher.

the breather for both manual and auto are in the same place, it sits where the bell housing bolts to the block, or up nere the a/c lines which go into the cabin

A granny 1st is a cool feature in a new vehicle, i didnt think that they made new vehicles to perform off road any more. Whats the final drive in low with that?
Shame its a jeep though!

Shame that the BEST toyota off road vehicle is a "Shorty 40" that is based on a JEEP
And the TJ's still kick it's arse in stock form
