Jaos Front Bashplate For Sale.

Post by Bitsamissin »

If anyone is interested there is a 2nd hand one going cheaply ($55) at Imlachs Mitsu wreckers www.imlachs.com.au
It was sitting in the foyer with assorted seats, bullbars etc these are stainless steel and about 2-2.5mm thick and came off a Gen 2 2.5TDI.
For those of you who aren't aware of Jaos they are a US/Jap aftermarket 4x4 company that makes bars, bumpers and other bling stuff so this bashplate must have been imported as there is no agent in Oz.
This is the front bashplate that mounts just under the front bumper (not under the diff) it has a few dings in it but is a lot stronger than the factory one and looks bling.
http://www.jaosusa.com/preview.asp?catid=5 check out the 92-99 Montero one.

I have one and I think its alot stronger than most think. I like it and it looks good too. Had to modify it very little to fit it under the ARB. Thats a good price for they normally are around $300. (US $) There is a total of 3 skid plates, 2 in the front and rear gas tank that JAOS makes. Well designed and uses orginal holes to bolt on.

Actually, Angelo's picture is his second skidplate...here is his first one:

He bent up his first one pretty good & gave it to me. I had it straightened as best I could & put it on. Adds a little flash as well as some strength.

Thanks Ang!

No problem. Where have you been at Charlie. Long time, I thought you were sellin the Monty. Anyways, yeah, the first skid plate was in a wreck. I didnt have the ARB, just the factory bumper and the skid plate. Took a good hit and drove away. The other car was totaled :bad-words: So I passed it along to Charlie. Glad you got it straighted out good, you told me it took a couple of presses.

BTW- We need to all get up sometime and wheel.

later,

Hey Angelo & Bishi! I'm pretty much just a lurker now. Altho I do check out all the boards.

I finally got a used tranny put in so I'm drivin' the Monty pretty regular now. I'm still looking to sell but need to tighten up the front end first. Idler arm, pitman & wheel bearings repacked. Get a good detailing inside & out & then she's up for sale.

Ang, are you thinking of driving up the coast for a trip? I would like to hook up with Dough at least for one more trip. Let me know.
