you know that feeling ....
that "OH SH!T" , type feeling !!!!

left for work last nite , about 10:20 !!
pulled out the driveway , sort of "clunk" in the steering !!
took off up the road , thinking "Ah , will look at that 2moro !!"
1st corner I got too , T junction , traffic lights ...
lights have just gone amber , " its sweet , i,ll make it !!"
turned the wheel , lotsa times , car went half way round the corner , then straight !!!

straight into a pole !!!! DOH !!

just glanced the bullbar ,
& down the drivers side , so I flattened the only {semi}straight flare I had left !

& bent the crap out off the steering arms !!

Cause of the DOH !! , a bolt fell out of the rag joint !!
No prior warning , until I went to go too work !!

so now it is held together with a trailer chain "D" shackle !!

Yikes!!!!!!!!

Glad you made it out of that one Moose! And that you didn't take anyone/thing else out at the same time!!!

BTW, I think you might need to look at some preventative maintenance mate

I was in the engine bay on the weekend , did a headgasket !! (again !!)

3 bolts are still tight , only 1 fell out ???

there were no warning signs , apart from the noise as I left 4 work !!

Whilst there was panal damage, you gotta be STOKED that the damage/injury rate wasn't dramatically worse.......buy a lotto ticket

Zooks have 1 uni joint just near the firewall. Just get another one of them. Works good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is the other uni joint on the steering as well?

What is needed to convert the rag to this and also would this suit a BL as well.

I just replaced the rag joint with one of those u-joints. I have a Vitara P/S box but I am pretty sure the spline on the Sierra box is the same.

You will need to make some changes to the end of the steering shaft as it has a flange on it and you need a spline to match up with the u-joint.

Quick one. If only 1 bolt fell out how did it make it fail. I though they are held by one at each corner??

Or am i wrong.

2 bolts per side of rag joint , one falls out allows shaft to free spin around bolt left on side the bolt fell out off (make sense)
