Hello guys!!
I found a fiberglass top for my car, it was cheap but the look is awuful. Anyway I got it thinking in painting it so I dont have a white car with a white FG top.
Does anyone know how to prepare the fiberglass to be painted??? I mean to be painted without getting a flakey (spelling) paint three months later.
Also it has a corner that looks like it was dragged so it needs ro be repaired. How can I do that???
Thank you very much for the help you could give me.

I just painted my top black recently. I was told to use an etch primer. Apparently this stuff will stick to anything. Mine's been on for a couple of months and is showing no signs of coming off!!
You should be able to pick up a fibre glass repair kit from a car shop.

I was told to rub back the top coat of laqure before you paint it (this was from a panel beater) and to use proper fiberglass primer but i could never be botherd painting mine in the end so. Just go to a car place like repco they will tell u how to do it.

First of all wet the ground area your going to work on, this will stop dust blowing up onto the hardtop
1)Wash it with oil and grease remover
2)Sand it with fine sand paper
3)Hose it down softly (minimise dirt being splattered)
4)Give it a modest coating of Etch primer (not to thick or t runs)
5)Give it one THIN undercoat of auto paint primer
6) Paint colour coat, let it dry for several hours than paint second coat before the first is completely dry.
7) Paint all neccessary detailing like 'S' logos, Japanese Anime and Kanji and finish with clear coat.
Pity i have no room at my place to set up a Spray Booth
