MQ Aircon bracket

Hey bought these but never thought of where they were meant to go. Can someone shed some light as to where they go or even better a couple of pics.

Petrol or diesel? Petrol goes on bottom of passenger side of block.
Diesel - 2 bolts at front on pass side of rocker cover - goes alllllllllll the way down - you have to take a heck of a lot of stuff of to fiti it mate.... ENJOY!

Great i knew it would be a pain but it has to be done. I know about the two head bolts that you use but the rest....????
What needs to come out to fit it?? Alternator etc.
Do i need a larger fan belt?? Does that larger fan belt run the alternator aswell.
Funny cause it doesnt look too difficult. Is it really difficult or just time consuming?? Day job or half a day??

its a good weekend to fit the hole aircon system, but a good day to do the engine bay stuff.
U will need to take the thermostat housing off to put the tensioner on as well ans alternator and maybe fan shroud, not sure about manifolds.... ull just find it hard to get bolts in.
are u doing a hole ac sytem?
or just compressor?

Just the compressor!! Just wanna a rough idea on what going on. So when i try do it im not too stumped. It doesnt look like too many bolts.
I know you installed an aircon system in your mq, did you ever get it gassed up and working??

i put it in yes, but ended up using it as an Engine driven Air compressor for a short time before scraping the hole idea.
i didnt bother with air con in the mq in the end as its my weekend car and is soft top so dont really need it.

Okay so just putting in the compressor mount is difficult or what. I know the alt has to come off but what about the rest?? It only looks like a few bolts..
Wanna do this tomorrow.

Ok ..... I'll asume its an SD33 we're working on here from memory.... if not then you'll just have to let me know and I'll do one for the L28 instead

Check that the harmonic balancer has provision for an additional belt, "some" SD33's in MQ's only have a twin belt harmonic balancer, if there is 3 "V"s for triple belts then ya sweet.....
If not then you'll need to hunt one down at a wreckers etc....
2/
get a new thermostat housing gasket for the belt adjuster, the adjuster bolts up where the housing is currently located, its approxamatly 6mm thick and it wont interfer with radiator hose lengths etc. There are 2 pieces to the thermostat housing ( both are made of alloy ), one is bolted directly on to the head, while the other is bolted onto the piece I just mentioned. Its this piece that needs to be removed ( for easy identification: its the bit that the top hose is clamped to that needs to be removed !! ). The adjuster bracket fits between the top cover you have removed and the "extension housing" which you hopefully HAVEN'T removed !
The adjuster is operated by loosening the large nut in the centre of the pully and then the 12mm bolt is wound up/down to do the actual adjustment. Once the required belt tension is achived the centre nut is retightened.
DO NOT FORGET TO RETIGHTEN THE CENTRE NUT ....much carnage will result if you fail to retighten it after an adjustment. ( I've sen a pully slam through a radiator !!!, so you can add an aditional $400 for a new radiator if you forget to do it back up tight !! )

The "S" shaped bracket which actually holds the compressor is mounted to both the head & the side of the block, it also incorperates the mount for the alternator..... so IT's BEST if you get ALL the bolts/bushes that come with the bracket for an easier installation.
There are 2 bolts which are HEAD BOLTS ( yes they actually tension the head down ) which need to be removed and 2 "special" bolts specifically for the aircon bracket will need to be installed instead.

If you use the standard head bolts then there is an extreamly HIGH RISK of damaging the threads in the block, alternativly you run a much higher risk of blown head gaskets due to the loss of tension that can be placed on the std head bolts...... the std head bolts will be 8mm to short in the length.....put simply.....
THEY ARE NOT LONG ENOUGH SO DONT USE EM !

The alternator part of the "S" bracket has differant bolts and tension adjuster to a std setup, this is why I said at the top of this post....

Hey kingy all went okay installing the aircon compressor mount. Granted it took 4 solid sweaty hours but we got it on.
Now what wasnt included was a tensioner of some description and i have also realised that the compressor i have might not be a standard one!! Welding up a bracket for the comprssor poses no problem but im a little bit baffeled as where and how to get and install some sort of tensioner.
If you could shed a bit of light would be muchly appreciated.
And yes its a sd33

kingy has already told u the info u need about the tensioner.
it is a pulley that has a bracket with 3 holes and a circle in the middle of it.
If u take the top part of ur thermostat housing off ( 3 bolts ) it bolts in under that using the thermostat bolts and the hole in the middle of the bracket is to allow for the thermostat and the water flow.
get at wreckers. I gave one to kingy if he still has it........ might be worth asking about....

I mean you have to imagine me sitting in the garage trying to imagine things i have never seen before.
When i got the mount they didnt include or even mention the tensioner..............mongrels.
Wrecker are hopeless over here and overcharge BIG TIME!!! Cost me $110 for the compressor bracket!!...ONLY! Oh and a semi stripped head bolt.

Nah the yellow patrol already had Aircon...but the new motor I droped into it didnt have !!!, So I had to set it up again on the new motor.... Thats how I know what works n what fugs up !

Front guards n bonnet wont be going on until the other motor is dropped in.... passenger side doors are on and I'm 1/2 way through the rollcage.... leaving the drivers side doors off untill the rollcage is completed ( much easier access and less paint damage !!).........
