Engine Driven Fans

Ok, my 4BD1 has no viscous(sp) on the fan, I don't want to get out at every water crossing thats deeper thas the hubs and pull the belt off.

Would you guys either get a viscous fan or go electric with a switch?

Motor does not ever look like getting hot and there is no shroud so a small loss in efficency would be acceptable and I could always build a shroud if required.

What would be the options for the Viscous fan. I know EL/AU ford fans work well, I have some on my 350 chev rangie with stock rad.

Cheers,

Electric fans option.

Most effiecient, can be fully stopped while wading.

More exspensive, more lilely to be shagged from water/mud.

Visous option.

Cheaper than electric. Less like to be shagged.

I run the standard non-viscous on my 4BD1 - more a tourer though and reliability is its function.

I run electrics and no engine driven fan on my 4JB1-T - more a toy and see's more mud/water crossings, also it is MUCH colder in the UK so fans are not needed in daily driving.
