I used 100mmx3mm rubber fro Clark Rubber and reinforced it with galvanised builder's tape stuff (25mm wide) from Bunnings. Attached with self tappers

Made mine from 75mm lawn edging from bunnings, $19 for 10 metres. Its stiff plastic, not rubber. Easily cut and shaped with tin snips and finished off with a file. Having a single cab the 10 Metres gave me 3 sets of spares left over. Used brass screws (didnt have self tappers) every 80 mm or so. I got priced locally for special made flares very similar (but rubber) for $100 a pair.

I've got a 10m length of Bunnings shorter garden edging which is taking up space in my garage (couldn't get it straight enough in the garden, so out it came!)
Free to a good home, pick up from Brisbane Northside.
Cheers,
Scott
Edit: It's now somewhere the other side of the round window....

How wide is the stuff you have? how much do you think postage to bundy would be if i was to get my brother to pick it up? how heavy is it?

The roll is 75mm wide, around 250mm diameter, roughly 2.5kg (according to my bathroom scales...)
I expect postage to Bundy would be enough to make you want to find some locally, or wait for your brother to visit.
Cheers,
Scott

I went out and got some 75mm edging today. The guards on my lux havent got a "square" lip.
I know someone had sheetmetal welded in, I don't want to go to that extent, did you guys just pull it out straight or what??

My arches had about 4mm flattened underneath most of the way around, didnt need to bend or add sheet just used a centre punch to make sure the drill holes were dead centre.
You could maybe weld a strip around to mount it too but youll have to repaint etc, could be a big job. Your arch is folded underneath right? just not flat? if so you could maybe use a centre punch to make your drill holes right on the tip and that should work. If its too sharp maybe bend it out a little only where you need to drill.

Thanks.
I cut the wheel arches bigger with air hacksaw then welded a strip of flat sheetmetal around the new arch. Used cardboard template to cut the plastic for snug fit to the guard.
Wouldn't do it this way again- the weld is messy and same result can be had by cutting and folding metal on existing guard. See the Rover section for an awesome guard job on a Disco by Slunnie.
