Simple question, do they have breathers and if so where are they located?

I am certain the LT230 does, and, although I am not sure of the location, I can attest that its the only black plastic hollow wire
As far as the LT85 goes, every component needs to have a breather, location should be as described above
(not much help huh?

Would blocked breathers cause gear oil to spew out the front of the gearbox after a day of wheeling?
It dosen't happen at any other time?
I'm talking like 500ml!

They both have breathers. I can't remember where they are located at the moment (and it isn't like I can walk outside and check!!!), but on a stock county there are extended breathers for the box and T-case that are semi-transparent plastic tubes (about 6mm diam) that run up the engine bay side of the transmission tunnel and end (in a J shape) at the top of the firewall - near the exhaust manifold (hope that makes sense). Since you said your running gear was from a county you should have the same setup.
Sometimes the lines can melt on the manifold if they move around.
Where did the oil come from? The bellhousing drain? If the box becomes pressurised it can happen (or if the front oil seal is buggered - or if you have sucked some water in and the box is over-full now). You sure the oil wasn't from the rear main seal? Sometimes these can go on the 4BD1.

Breathers are on top (banjo fittings).
The lube pump for LT85 is at front - driven from the front end of the lay shaft. Oil goes from the pump to a ring that should have a small clearance on the input shaft. It then feeds into the input shaft.
The original bearings in the LT85 don't have a long life behind a 4BD1 (maxi drive does a conversion).
Just maybe, the oil distribution ring and the input shaft seal have worn due to wear in bearings and the oil is leaking from there.

Thanks for the help Ben,
It was definatly Gear oil as even new motor oil dosen't look like this, it was very thin. I would say that it was the bell housing drain that it came from due to the location of the oil.
I haven't been through any water so I am guessing it is the presure building up hence looking for the breathers. Will look today and let you know.

The box is new and was rebuilt by Graeme Cooper and I believe he did the Maxi conversion but will call him today to find out for sure. I hope it's not the pump but that should be covered under warrenty I hope.
Cheers

I bought my county from NSW, and my LT85 was rebuilt 20000km before I bought the truck, also by G.C., but with my box at least, they just pulled it out of the truck and shipped the box up to Mal (Maxi-Drive) for the rebuild.
When they did the rebuild G.C. didn't replace the worn T-case input gear and the box was full of 90W oil when I got it (G.C. invoice said they had refilled it with EP90).
If the oil coming out of your box is like water as you say, then at least they seem to be putting the right oil in them now.
