Help with mounting ARB bullbar on bodylifted narrow track

Hi All

A young guy that lives around the corner from me in Kiama has just gone out and bought a new ARB winchbar and of course it mounts low with a bodylift and obviously either the Zook or the bullbar needs to be modified to rectify the problem. He has already cut the outside brackets to clear his tyres so the bar is weeker than standard but almost everyone seems to do that.

I would like to help him but I am not mechanical enough  . How do you get a decent mounting for a winch bar?

Any pictures would help he is pretty savvy if he can see pictures.

All ideas appreciated.

Thanks

I had my winch bar modified to suite the sierra after a 2 inch body lift went on...

the first step was to flatted out the bar center mounts (which are currently staggered) and then weld some plate onto them (check that this will now site on the outer edges of the chasis rails before you weld it onto the wrong side of the bar mounts...

we then attached an extra bracket with diagonal supports to the top of the chasis rail and then mounted the winch to where we wanted it to sit and drilled the holes accordingly... i think you shold find that the current top mounting hole on the chasis rails will be where you will want your bottom mounting bolt to go through, the top bolt will go through the new bracket...

i'll sketch it up tomorrow and explain further if you require.

cheers,
Greg

Thanks Greg,

I showed your post and some photos on the Suzuki site to my young friend and he has fabricated up a bracket along the lines you mentioned.

Result looks strong and neat and tidy.

Appreciated your help, thanks again.
