Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Hi all. just thought I'd drop a line and let ya all know how the conversion is going...
Well, pretty much sorted the heat issue. Buggered thermostat and viscous fan coupling. Replaced both with new and she is now running cool. The engine Oil temp still gets a little warmish but I'll rectify that with an oil cooler of some description. I am still wading through the various bits and pieces... Next jobs are...
(1) Going to get the whole engine bay rewired from fire wall to bull bar. Pommy wiring and retrofiiting thereafter it just needs some $'s spent in that direction... Need a heads up on a GOOD auto electrican on the northern end of the GOLD COAST so anyone who can give me some direction it would be appreciated. Needs to understand Rover electrics though? NOT POSSIBLE I KNOW!
(2) Complete engine dyno. Probably will get done at RACEPREP in Kingston RD underwood in Brisbane. have heard good things...
(3) Fix a few leaks...Rear innner hub seals gone. Rear main output shaft seal etc etc. Bugger getting the hands dirty on this.. PAUL at ROVER CARE can fix that...
(4) New longe range fuel tank... Found one and will retrofit over the next few weeks. 120 litre.. LEss ground clearance but saves refilling everytime I drive to the local store...he he he lol
(5) THAT'll do for now till I win the lotto...

I might still have it and I will put it up on the new site hen I publishn it in Feb some time. just sorting out the pics for the mods page, plus with the upcoming fitment of the front Maxi-Drive, I have put it off.

Glad you have sorted the probs with your 4.4. I may be getting a 4.2 stroker from a bloke in our club that will go into the 83 once I rebuild it (has a dud piston, but good apart from that).Next will be the ZF auto conversion, which will be a prick of a job . Also if i don't sell my Vogue seats, they can go in as well.

go see rick at CAR SPARKS , kamholtz crt ashmore. there is a dyno on lawrence dr nerang, opposite RICKS 4WD, it is a 4wd rig, very nice guys, had my 110 tdi done before exhausht was put on. 47 kw at the wheels, no wonder i have trouble keeping the front end on the ground.

That's an understatement!

Just changed the 2 heater hoses at the water pump.
What a sh!t job. Easiest thing was to remove the dizzy, and go from there.

Next is the A Arm bushes. Noticed they were stuffed when I did the ball joint. Will have to wait till I go back to work so I can use the press.

Then what.
Oh yeah.
Refit the tacho.
Replace the rear window struts.
Remove the rear bumper (and carriers) and straighten/weld it. (I hit a tree).
Fix the carpets better.
Tidy the wiring after one of them caught on fire.
Oh and the brakes are due for a check over.
And of course the swivel seals.

I could go on, but I think I'll stop there

Like yourself, I still have other issues to sort out. The joty of old Rangies

One good thing is that Aquarangie has donated several items that would of cost quite a bit of money, just a matter of trying to get them done. The ZF auto conversion I am keen as mustard to tackle (had the 83 for a couple of months, 4 speed okay but I can see me cracking the absolute shits with changing gears).

Yes, that water pump hoses is one of those 'keep a carton of beer in the fridge' jobs as you will need qyuite a few after your done, along with the heater core replacement. I was stripping out Aquarangies interior today and it still took over an hour to get the dash out (half od it out already) and get the heater done. Thank god the one in the 83 doesn't leak touch wood and it willbe the first rangie I have owned ever with an operational heater

Anyway, can't say I have nothing to do. I also took out the ZF auto/LT230 from under Aquarangie. there isn't much left now.
