Narva driving lights. Does anyone else think that they are not up to the task?

My reflectors fell out of the plastic (super flexy) housings after getting some air. The l/h housing cracked, but the reflector did not break. The r/h reflector smashed as it hit the bull bar it was mounted to.

I had some 175 Ultimas and thought they were
alright. They have a better beam than my IPF's.

Same. I now have 4 cheap Narvas on my roof and any two of them are easily brighter than my IPFs hanging on the front. Cheaper too, in case the branch is lower than it looks

I got my IPF's for free, thats
why i took the Narva's off.

Ive got the smaller square shaped pencil beam narva spotties on mine and they work fantastic. Yeh they are cheap, but still good quality.

Just how much air did you get mabey you need to change your driving style to stop breaking lights

Landed hard enough for the bull bar to flex back and bend the guard etc. But they had come out a couple of times before that while traveling quickly on corrogated roads. The were the smaller 150's. The top has a small plastic retainer that holds the reflector in. Not good enough in my opinion. I may try the 175's next. They seem to have a larger retainer.

i had narva ultima 175's & they rocked until i hit a tree

I've got a set of their cheapest spotties and am very happy with them- cost me about $90 and do everything I want them to.

i've got a set of the narva offroad lights... about 110 each 4 years ago... have never given me problems and are as good as ipf or cibie from what i've seen.... are durable, waterproof and provide a good even spread and distance of light....

Mine work OK.
I have a pair of 220mm Bull lights fitted with 100 watt globes.
One is spread & the other is spot.

i got 4 navra spreads small retangle ones on my roof all up cost about 150 and a set of ipf spreads on the bull bar and the navra are better and have takem a hell of a lot more. and the IPFs were free.

I have the 175s, bang for buck the narva's are unbeatable

i have 4 175's and 2 clear blue 175's and i think they are great

I run 4 175's with two spreads on the outside and 2 pencil beams together in the middle (between the spreads). Bang for buck they are a great combination and you dont cry if ya smash one. Love 'em

Can anyone tell me if the 175 blue's are worth getting?? I am happy with the standard 175s, but need a set for the GQ so am looking at putting the standards on the GQ and a set of blues on the GU

the price of these have come down significantly and have heard only good reports.......

I think they were $200. for the sread / spot set when I looked but will have to check. the bloke at the store reckons he has them and they throw a much better light, but then everyone see's stuff differently

Just had a quote from Repco for the pencil/spread 100W kit for $150 - not bad.
I just came back from Tamworth to Brisbane with them, and they were very good.

A little too good when they hit the big signs - almost blinding close up.

Anyone tell me the best combination?

1 x spread, 1 x pencil ?
2 spreads with 1 x centre pancil ?
put spreads or pencils up high (infront of roof rack) ?
all spreads?

what do you reckon?

and...are spotties mounted on the roof legal?

I was thinking of putting some infront of my Rhino rack, not ontop of it.
Would only do it if it is effective - not for wank factor

I have found that 1 spread 1 spot has been good, but am considering 2 spread only as the spread throw the light more than far enough for me.

Ok get lightforce HID and shine light for 2.5kms or so if you want, but far can you see anyway???? look hot but!

I had two Narva 170 spreads (100w) on the roof, they did the job until they were decapitated
I replaced them with two low profile Lightforce 140's. They do a better job with the 70w and throw a wider beam, when adusted and fitted with the dispersion lenses.
Thinking of putting another two 170's up there and then angle the 140's outwards to cover an even greater area.

Has ne1 had nething to do with the night stalker 170s in 34x4 monthly the rated no.3 and for a set $120 i hav a set of ralley 400s both spot beams and a set of nite stalker 170 both spot beams and the 170 set are as good as my 4000s if u want bang for your buck in my opinion and experience the 170s are an awsome light

i have narva's on mine ( 2 spot beams) and i think for $100 you cant go past them.

Narva's are good value for money, but the lightforces are alot better.

Lightforce is a completely different light and (*at the moment*) Narva can not come close. But when you compare what you get for your dollar the Narvas really start to shine.

The Narva Blues are a much clearer whiter light that is far more pleasant on the eye and reduces fatigue associated with long hauls and yellow light. There is a 5% reduction in light output but it is more user friendly.

We have found the best combination to be a pair if spots down the guts and something smaller but still bright, like the compaq 80s, to cover the side of the road. This combination gives an intense spread of light across the whole road including the shoulder and beyond.
