Filtering Diesel

Cleanliness is next to godliness with fuel and air for diesels. But can you go overboard? I wonder if too much filtering is detrimental to my running? My Rocky is fitted standard with a debris trap type fuel filter, and a bloody expensive filter element. The previous owner had the good sense to fit a CAV debris trap filter inline between the tank and the OE filter. I have recently fitted another CAV debris trap filter that I had lying around just after the fuel tank. Overkill???? or just good sense???? It doesnt seem to have made any difference to performance, but, Im wondering if the fuel pump will handle it?

shouldnt make a difference in performance, except for the added weight you are now carrying around. Possibly the weight of the addtiional filters plus the additional fuel they carry and the fittings, and bolts to hold them on, minus any lengths of fuel line you removed plus the fuel they could carry. Id say you added 2-3 useless kilos. Congratulations. 8) Unless the fuel is REALLY bad up there... I think the OEM gear is more than satisfactory, especially, if you have a clean tank, and replace your filters when needed at servicing intervals.
