Outer Limits 4x4 Board

thinking of starting to put together the parts for an A-Frame for my hilux.
wondering what fuel tanks people are using to clear the linkages.
The standard tank is also a problem because the landcruiser is box is going in soon, the fueltank will be in the way of the tailshaft.

We get them custom made to fit. We have 4 booked in for Feb. Come down and have a look.

put a gq tank in behinde the diff , takes 90l and keeps the weight even down the back over the diff

Or just mount your standard one behind the diff. It almost fits between the chassis rail so you can belt of grind a bit off the seams and it should fit. No unnecessary stuffing around with senders etc. Although it doen't have as much clearence as a GQ one, it is thinner so less chassis needed hanging out the back. Or just go custom and get exactly what you want.

Another choice is a Jackeroo sub tank (about 40L) which I found at the wreckers and was going to use on mine when I did my 4 link. That was until I tried the std one and decided to use that once I found that it fitted.

I'm using a Suzuki Vitara tank in the back of mine. It sits right at the back of the chassis - which has been shortened 290mm - and the bump stops do their job to protect it from the A frame hitting it. It cost f@#k all to set up and works a treat. But it only holds 55ltrs!!!!

hmmmm, i dont think i can afford a custom tank, would be nice if i could. though.
i will have to measure up for the std tank behind the diff.
i will also check out the other suggestions.

I run a pvc fuel cell, foam filled. just above the a frame between the chassis rails works well!

i just relocated the lux tank behind the diff, two brackets and a little grinding, worked a treat. thanks guys

I had mine like that before I chopped 14" off the back of my frame

85 what did you do about your brake proportioning valve? Or is yours mounted behind the last x-member? I havent had mine together in ages and noticed when I was about to weld the new tank mounts in that something was mounted there between the last and second last x-member that i think was the BPV.

yep, it was the bpv. i unbolted it to fit the tank. i think i will remount it in front of the crossmember. i am moving the diff forward to suit the massively forward front diff. bought steel from bohler today to make the a-frame joint. it should be grand when i am finished.

in regards to chopping the back end.. i will probably put a tube tray in at some stage. i will cut the chassis rails off at the front of the last crossmember and weld on a new one with tow points. 14" is a fair bit... i like it.
