Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Just finished putting a 2" old man emu susp lift into a '88 gq swb and either my eyes are deceiving us or the car sits around ½" lower at the rear.

Is anyone out there able to give me approx measurements from the centre of the hub to the bottom of the gaurd front and rear because i`ve got a bad feeling the store gave us the wrong springs.

did you measure before the lift for a point of reference?

when i looked around for my 2"lift i could get no firm answers from anyone on what is standard, makes it bloody hard to judge.

i didn't use arb but when enquiring they did guarantee 2"'s of lift. i'd drive it over to them and see what sort of line they give you.

nahh, the rear springs were s(h)agged from 10 yrs of the previous owner towing a boat and the front shox were blown. so we didnt even think.

A mate of mine lifted a 89 shorty with 2in blocks and 2in springs (dobinsons) It did seem to sit low in the but at first I think he fitted spring spaces (30mm) and with no weight it sits good now and has awsome rear wheel travel Ill try and get measurements for you and post (just take off 50mm for the body lift )

had same problem with my lwb where did u measure from ?? if its the top of guard in the centre the rear guard cutouts are differnt heights from the front .measure to the sill and see what happens

Ok rear is from guard lip centre to bottom of nissan factory wheel cap
720mm - 50mm(body lift)= 670mm
Remember this is with 30mm coil spacers cause the rear sat lower
Front is measured the same way(has factory wheel cap as well over the hub)
730mm-50mm =680mm no coil spacers

ok front from ground to flare is 970mm and rear is 930mm thats running 32 bfg a/t and kings 2' lift hope that helps at all on lwb 90 gq wagon too

Original front 860 mm ground to flare 845 mm rear (rooted suspension)

Add 50mm. 910 mm Rear 920 mm front.

I can re-mesure mine tomorrow when Im less drunk and could give MOAF.


The height hub to flare is 550mm approx including 50mm lift. Maybe those flares make some difference to height?

The standard measurement supplied by Nissan to the goverment through the RVCS website is 560/525 front and rear. This is what the manufactures designate as their standard ride height before they are relaesed to the market.

http://rvcs-prodweb.dot.gov.au/. You can check it yourself if you like. Search in Vehicle/RVD serch, add as little amount of info as possible. All I added was Nissan and Patrol & in the status feild add 'all' and it will search all categories not just the latest.

i done a quick search myself and couldnt find anything relevant, we also fitted the shocks and springs ourselves. the car sits at f 970 and r 930 mm from the ground which is spot on going from what you guys have said

Think i still might go and chase up some spring spacers because it doesnt quite look right. Thanks for all your help.

Yeah the factory flares make a huge difference - from the guard it's 960/970mm to the ground.

The factory flares drop the lip height by 50mm......as we all know they can cause their own clearance issues.
