Strenghening diff housings

Post by toughnut »

Hey all, Just about to pull apart my diffs to put the lockers in and I'd like some of your ideas on strengthening the diff housings for my GU patrol. I've seen people put webbing on underside where the nuckle joins the diff tube and I've also seen some that have been sleeved along the underside of the main housing. Any other ideas that aren't that hard to do?

hey steve im doing the same at the knuckle and prob along the top of the diff is this going to be weaker by doing it on the top the reason for the top is better clearance
also i thought of welding reinforcements on the spring mounts for the times that it will get air and have a heavy landing

NOW ABLE TOO SAY WHAT I WANT WITHOUT FEAR OF LOOSING SALES.
The person who says it cannot be done should not interrupt the person doing it.

These are almost what I'm looking for cheezy. They'll keep things nice and straight. I'm still concerned about the underside of the pumpkin though. I'm going to be bouncing fairly hard over rocks and stuff in winch challenges and I really don't know how tough the skin is. How much of a hit can it take without fowling up the internals??
