Ive got a 95 sierra, motors done 150 000kms, so its still going strong. I have just bought 32's and im getting a spoa done next week or the week after. I know im gonna need some improvements to push the tyres, first thing will be s3 rockhoppers.
What i want to know though, is should i get the rockhoppers, and weber, and mid range cam, i already have 4-2-1 and 2" system.
Or should i do my mods assuming that i will put a vit 1600 in later???
Like how hard would my 1.3 go with these mods? (take into account the price)
Or like would i be better off getting a 1600, with like a s1 rockhopper?
Also is it alot more expensive to do the 16v vit engine compared to the carby one?
besides carby/hill issues, how much performance does the 16v have over the 8v?
Thanks alot
Ryan

drive it for a while after each mod, before you do the next mod.
You may be trying to fix something that isn't broken.
Also its good idea to learn the handling changes of each mod, before you add the next one.
We all get excited and want to do everything all at once....but it never happens....change/mods is an on going permanent thing.
Your needs and experiences may be different to others, so just develope the zook as you go.
I spent ages calculating and researching to decide on the best diff ratio for mine, and by fluke got the wrong ratio diffs, but it turned out great, so all the research isn't always better than try it and see.
And have fun doing it all. christover

fair enough, but trying and seeing is expensive if i buy carb and gear mods that wont be used on the 1.6 i should be putting in, lol.
I want to know, if i put a weber and cam and s3 on my 1.3, will i do well with 32's, will i be near stock performance on highway?

I believe so, yes...mine runs 32 mongrels, with about 20% reduction.(1.0L t-case and 4:9 LJ diffs)
It revs just a little more than it did with standard gearing and 26" tyres.
1.3 will be fine with s3.

Hi
Need to confirm this but does the cam from the 1.3 not fit the 1.6 8v . If it does ( as I think it does ) get the carb and cam and then if you still need more grunt get a 1.6 and use them on it . may have to swap the head off the 1.3 .

if ur goin to be doin alot of steep hills and rocks, dont bother with the weber, ur goin to have problems, as for revs u will be doin about 4400rpm @100kms ph just remember the 32 mongrels measure about31".

How far will the cost of a webber and all the related accesorys (air cleaners, linkages, adaptor plates, ect ect) go toward a 1.6 conversion.
A webber carbed, internaly modified 1.3 is never going to be as relieable or perform as well as a stock 1.6 in all the driving that most people do in a zook.

my cost to do the weber so far not including the exhaust coz it had to be done anyway are
buy weber from wreckers (i already had one) $35-$50
full reco including float vent mod $220
entry to pinck a part to borrow some different jets $1.50
air cleaner adaptor from awap meet $5
new manifold adaptor from autobarn $39
fuel pressure regulator and fuel filter for float vent $62
plus a few odds and ends
fuel reg is optional so is having carby reco'd everything else is easily done ya self.
so you could have a weber on and running for between $150 dyi to $500 if ya get it dyno tuned
so how much does it cost to get a vit 1.6 fitted and engineered and can that be done in a few hours????? i like most others would love to have a EFI 1.6 in our sierras but cant afford it and this is a cheap and easy alternative.

I am not saying that it is not as good as an EFI 1600, I am saying it is not as good as a CARBED 1600!!!
I am not however disputing your ability to shop, a reco weber on your car for $327.50 is pretty cheap.
