Disco Rear Electric Windows - not always working. Ideas?

Finally found a suitable 95 V8i.

But the rear windows seam to work on and off depending on how she feels.

I have removed the switches, and I assume they work by feeding a Neg line to go up/down.

Throught my probing, I know that the problem is after the switch, but why would both do this?

Something you can get in the car and they go, and other times not? The front ones are fine.

Any suggestions?

Hi Phippsey

I had the exact same problem in my 95 Disco

It was a dry soldered joint on the elec window circuit board behind the glovebox

There is a good description of the problem & the solution on discoweb.org

What I found why this occured is that the contacys on nthe switches get all cruded up over time and need a good clean. CRC or lanolin oil will fix this problem.

Start with thast and then check the more difficult jobs. I found that one of my motors on my 93 Rangie had stopped working, but gave it a good drenching of lanolin oil and it worked like new again.

Just a thought.
