Mud in Adelaide

Mud in Adelaide
I found a tip on another forum about a location about 30 mins from where I live- thought I'd go investigate today seeing as it has been raining.
I only just made it through the mudhole in the bottom pic- lucky considering I was by myself!

It's a road up at Two Wells (near Gawler). In the rain the whole area would be fun as the tracks turn into very soft mud. There was lots of sideways (out of control) action
It took ages to clean ithe mud off from underneath.... worse than Sheidow.
Have a read of this thread- there are a number of tracks mentioned down your way: http://www.4wdmonthly.com.au/forum/inde ... eadid=4393
If you want we can go out and investigate them sometime I had to be a bit cautious yesterday as I was by myself and didn't want to get bogged in the middle of nowhere. I don't know what the RAA thinks about rescuing bogged 4WD'S....

come on dave! you KNOW you want to buy a set... stop selling yourself short and just buy a damn set already... hell.. get a second set of rims if you have to so you can use your road tread for your daily driver. personally, i left my muddies on as long as i did until the major rains hit because i loved the look the muddies gave to roza... tires make a HUGE difference in the world, trust me on that. a set of muddies can really bring out a bigger idea of just what that truck is capable of doing... do it dave! do it!
and stop being a hairdresser!
;jedi mind trick;
buy a set of muddies
;/jedi mind trick;
may the force be with you....

i had mine down to as much as 6-8 psi.. had NO problems whatsoever... the ferozas ROCK on sand buddy.... if your doing mainly sand wheelin, you may want to get a set of nearly bald at tires.... then you can air them down and get a nice flat surface.. they do best... or if you can find some big enough, some padded rubbers... like the lot used on atvs and sandrails.

all terrains are fun, even on wet roads, but you can't beat the muddies on wet roads. slip slip sliding away.
i lived in adelaide for a while, and never really found it a good place to build a 4by and drive it anywhere. one of my mates had a station near broken hill, we always went up there to muck around, a lot of hills, rocks and mud too.
i'm in darwin now, and when the mud turns your muddies into donuts with cream, then you know you got mud.
this was one time after work and it was raining all day. didn't get out until 8, was stuck for about an hour. don't bother digging, or going out alone. i never learn.
this was the same spot a couple of days ago, not flooded, but once you break the surface, you're gone. i was mucking around in 2 wheel drive, due to me being an idiot and all happy with the newly installed lockright.
another pic
i should save up for some recovery gear.
Cheers,
Steve

HOLY SH!T!!!!!
you know what you just reminded me of? that day when i got stuck, i used my tyre iron to help dig the mud a bit. and i just realised that i left it out there in the mud.
should i go back and look for it? or to hell with the darn thing, and besides, it didnt even help that much.
thats some freaky sh!t. anyway, usually i have one of those supercheap fold up shovels, but it just so happened that i cleaned out the zook before i went for that drive.
and what would a snatch do if theres no one else to pull you out? its not like i could take a run up and pull the zook out (i wish).
Thanks Tzi for reminding me.
