Post it up in 4x4 tech or general chit chat
you'll get more people looking at it.

firstly,
what do you want out of a club?
if it's group trips then what sort of trips, month long outback adventures? day trips to gembrook, walhalla etc?
Difficulty of trips.

What sort of attitude to 4x4 do you have. do you find the biggest bog hole you can to drive through or do you drive next to it?
Do you have kids? if so do you want to bring them along on trips where other kids are also along.

I'm in Yarra Valley 4x4 club which is right for me but may not be for you.

Hope this helps.

t

good idea and well said - I'm in Ontrack and like anything - go along to a meeting and a drive and see how you gel with those in the club. make sure the club is doing things you want to do - and not what you feel compelled to do. Suck it and see I suppose you'd say.

i should add that just because a club is local that you should join it.
I joined yarra valley even though its meetings are a good 40-50 min drive from my place yet bushtrek, another good club, is 5-10 mins from me and the president is a good friend of mine (who i also work with) but the club didnt suit what i wanted at the time. CFA 4wd club is also 5-10 mins from my house and i am a CFA volunteer (you don't need to be a firey to be a club member) but the club didnt do the type of trips i was interested in.

Another thing worth considering is driver training. Most clubs will offer its members driver training days. This was a major factor for me in choosing my club.

In the end, go along to a meeting and at least one group trip with the clubs and make sure you enjoy yourself. If you dont like it and/or dont fit in then dont waste your money.

No. Both clubs just share the same name and sense of adventure.

The pres lives in Lillydale, and the club draws members from Moe to Kielor, and all suburbs in between.

I wasnt refering to your suggestion specifically. just something else to keep in mind. Exactly like you said. your pres is from lilydale.
