Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Had a wheel balance problem, so i went in to get them
rebalanced only to find the stud holes to be elongated
causing the rim to move on the hub.
Has any one else had this?
It may pay to check them.

happens when your wheel nuts are loose.. you can also tell by lookin at the wheelnuts, if you see a dust trail spreading out from under the nuts usually means they are loose.

They haven't been loose since i've had the car. I was
told that white wheels have a habit of coming loose
so i always kept an eye on it.

Every 4x4 owner I know has done this at one time or another.

Yeah right i've only taken thousands of
wheels on and off in the past 10 years and none came
back to me loose so.

or you could paint em black

Getting black ones 2'morrow

Make sure your wheel nuts have the right taper on em too. If they are tightning up on the hub before they lock down the wheel this could cause your prob. They may even stay tight for a short period but not tight enough.

Had this happen to me with my alloys.

or red, so they spin faster, free power?

white wheels in 6 stud for toyota and nissan have a bore size for nisaan which is larger than toyota so wheels purhased for toyota will not be hub located this can lead to vibration problems ask your retailer the bore size and does it match the " oe " size. a trap when purchasing s/hand toyota wheels for patrols.tritan,pajero etc

As a matter of intrest was it the passanger side wheels that did this??

The hub is actually the bit designed to carry the vehicle's weight, not the studs. The studs are there to keep the wheel against the hub face, and transmit drive and braking torque to the wheel. Once they start carrying vehicle weight you're outside the design intent of the whole system, and you're on your own.

Having said that, a lot of people get away with it (including me - touch wood...)
