Sierra steering knuckles

When replacing my front r/h wheel bearing today after I had a warped
disc rotor machined I noticed there is a slight looseness of my r/h
steering knuckle. Are these knuckles adjustable? Just wondering what
is required to eliminate the slop?
I have adjusted the wheel bearing as firmly as I believe it will go
and there is still slop when I rock my wheel backwards & forwards
vertically when on the jack. I can see the slop when I look at the
steering knuckle.
Thanks

possibly the king pin bearings...4 little nuts and a plate, top and bottom of knuckle..fairly cheap bearings...christover

and sometimes the 4 big bolts that hold it all together shake loose....the ones behind the wheel bearing hub thru the disc backing plate...christover

Remove some of the shims between the cap and the housing

Thanks for the help guys.
The problem was kingpin related. Looks like my taper roller bearings that the kingpins sit in are on there way out. I had to eventually remove all the shimming to eliminate the slop in the steering knuckle. I'll look at getting new taper roller bearings shortly and them shim them up properly again. And to think that before I owned a 4WD I never even knew what a kingpin was ;-)
Cheers,

You should only have to replace the bearing (cup/cone) on the upper and lower swivel. Sierra/LJ 's don't usually require reshimming. Whilst you are there, you should also replace the two swivel seals as well as the inner axle seal.

Yeh thanks for the info Podge, I'll be replacing the seal around the balls on the steering knuckle the same time I do the taper roller bearings for the king pins.
