Hey all,

I have an LN46, early 83' model hilux.
Im lookin at doin 2 inch block lift, and 2 inch longer spring shackles.
Does anyone know any problems that may come from these 2 types of lifts. Someone who has modified a Hilux of similar age would be great to talk to. :?: :?: :D :?: :?:

No problems with the 2 inch body lift!

Just get longer bolts, jack the body up, throw the blocks in an ya pretty well done.

You dont even need to move the radiator or anything, took me about 1/2 by myself to do!!!

wen u say 2" block lift 2 u mean a body lift or 2" blocks under the springs ?? caz if u plan on putting blocks under the springs u can do it on the back easy but on the front u wont b able 2 do it unless u use crossover steering.

and yeaht he 2: longer spring shacles is easy, the rear is a peice of pi$$, but the front is slightly harder as the shackle needs 2 have a step in it 2 accomodate the 2 different widths where it mounts

yeah body lift with 2 inch blocks. I thought i may have a problem with steering and fuel pipes etc. thats all.

With the 2" larger shakles i can get the shakles with the steps in them easy, im just curious about problems it may cause with the drive shaft or other bits and pieces.

If there are no major hickups ill go ahead.

yeah ok wen u do the body lift just undo the bolts on the unis of the steering shaft and let it slide alittle and it will b ok or u can buy a spacer instead but i thinks its like $120 try snake racing, big balls or some1 like that.

and with the shackle lift u may find that it will handle different on the road as the castor angle has changed coz u have only lowered 1 end the spring (if that makes sense 2 u), and also the front drive shaft may b 2 short wen the drivers side wheel droops fully

Ok sounds the goods, but when u say the fornt drive shaft may be too short, do u mean it will slide out when im droping the drivers side wheel cause thats all bad.

When i lifted my 82' with new springs, it went up bout 6" and my drive shaft still has not fallen out to this day. They are shorter though than a later model one so my bro says.

i have just done 2" dropped front hangers and 2" dropped shackles on the front
the problems i have run into so far are the front springs are to short and the 2" shaclke is sitting at 90' to the rail, also the shocks are way to short so ill need to get longer shocks and new mounts for them, the pinion angle on the diff is now really nasty so castor correction will be required
also without cossover ill need to extend the front diff locator. and the tail shaft is just about at full extension aswell

Its a good idea to get some more fuel hose if u have a tub back, also and if its a dual cab it might pay to look at the cab cables that connect it to the chasis and finally make sure that u have no rear electrics going through the frame .
also bee aware that if u have a bull bar that its no longer going to be in the same place in relation to the body as before other than that GO 4 IT!!!
P.S dont just go and buy any bolts espeically those shiny silver ones ensure that they are grade 8 and remember that thier not all the same length.

AND DONT FORGET THAT THIS MEANS NO MORE UNDERCOVER CARPARKING.
GO 3'' OF BODY LIFT BUT( DONT GET YOUR CAPABILITIES MIXED UP WITH YOUR AMBITIONS).

with my bolts, all the body bolts are the same length and all the tray bolts are the same lenght (which is like half the size). Im actually doing the lift as we speak but ill take consideration of all those things.
Thanks guys.
