spring rebuilding

where (i.e. what type of shops) can i get the center spring pin that goes throughth the middle of the leaf pack, and some spring clamps, cause mine are busted

i had probs finding clamps they need to come from a spring works that actually make spring packs i was quoted near $175 a pack to get new ones made up and fitted

cool, might run them anyway, only one side of the clamp is busted on each set, and was going to run them open anyway, with a pin to limit them onroad... just one less pin to worry about

but if you here anything, i'm interested

a lot of people seem to do that intentionally to let the spring open more freely....probably a bit of seppo bullshit the west indies introdu.... hang on...
having watched springs flex and be restricted - it makes sense to open as much as they can go, but having said that, yeah there's prolly a good middle point for in road as well

why? most places will negotiate a lower price for cash. it's fair enough - credita card / cheque payments cost the vendor more in time and fees, so cash is the preferred medium.
if he had said "pay cash = don't pay GST" then it would be cause for alarm.

yeah, i'm going to open the clamps, beat them so they stand straight, like U, up, drill a hole through them and run a pin through them, so it limits the spring pack coming apart on road, and if it doesn't flex enough then, pull the pin for offroad... my only problem is one clamp per pack has one side snapped off.
