Can somebody help me. I have a 1991 V8 Disco and use a duel fuel system. Every time i start my car or punch the accelerator, I have a real stench of fuel in the cabin. What could be a possible cause of this?Breathers in the fuel tank etc???

I had a similar prob, turned out to be the fuel injector ''o'' rings were leaking, by the age of yours, if it is an EFI,( sorry did they have efi then or was it Carby) they should be nice and brittle by now.
I found out by having the engine running and noticed the rear one near the fuel pressure valve was the culprit, could see a puddle forming.

Thanks Rovernaut for your reply.
As noted correctly i do have an EFI system. So where would i find the fuel valve or the injector "O" rings. I dont have allot of mechanical knowhow but is the job relatively easy to fix.
Also, could this be a cause for fuel leaking out of the tank when i go to fill it up at the fuel station. It is as though the fuel is escaping from the filling up hose located at the top of the fuel tank. (or is that yet another quality landrover problem)
It's your breather hose

If you'r getting leaks from the filler, its probably your breather hose.
Have a look under the guard and you may notice some small hoses going into the filler neck. Check these are clear all the way.
Mine was actually broken as it entered the body gaps and when joined up all fuel smells dissapeared

It's also quite common for the tank to split around the breather hose connections on the top of the tank.
2nd hand tanks aren't usually that much, but if it's an option, a steel long range tank might be the go.

Daweapon, attached is a pic of a rover V8. The plenum chamber ( air intake) if you look close look under the sides of it there is a Pipe going around it , this is where you will find the injectors ( This is The 'Fuel Rail' - The injectors are fastened into this with metal clips and "O''rings)
You will also see wiring concection to thses with a clip. There 4 on the left hand bank and 3 on the right hand engine side.
Run your finger on the injectors and see if there is any Wet Fuel or any Red residue, of petrol.
It it is the problem, then you have to remove the Plenum chamber to enable easy access to the fuel rail. Unbolt the fuewl rail and pull the injectors out.
It is notr a hard job , but recommend some basic mechanical knowledge and confidence if you want to tackle this.
