What would you do?

If you realy wanted to get back out driving (socaily) but ya main rig was off the road (like my lux) But ya wife said she don`t care if you put front and rear locks, bar work, long range tank and winch on the family car 80 series and start using that for socail drives.

The only catch is that ya main rig will be off the road for about an extra year because of the $$$$$$

Would you just finish ya main 4x4
Or spend the $5000 to $6000 on the family rig and get out driving again.

fix your shitheap

if you fucked the 80 your left without wheels at all... thats not good for brownie points.

wouldnt $5k fix the lux? Or buy a cheap Zook for $2k, weld the diffs, and drive it to death

It not really the $$$$ its more the time and modivation to work on it

Plus we plan on putting the gear on the 80 anyway as it will become the main socail drives rig, the lux will only get used for them when its a just the boyes weekend/drive.

I can get the 80 ready for about $3500 would just not have long range tank or rear bar and would get the winch from th elux untill the lux was finished.

spend the time on lux insteda of the 80 then!

fairynuff

I can get the 80 ready for about $3500 would just not have long range tank or rear bar and would get the winch from th elux untill the lux was finished.

but if you fuck it totally, do you have other wheels? EG if you rolled it and totalled it? Would you be better off with a cheap shitter for now for your hack?

You got the right section. This is a General 4x4 discussion topic so its in the right place ;)

At least some people have taken some notice and are making an effort to keep the sections clean. Thanks Dave.

I would keep the 80 very mild. Maybe just a front locker and some sliders to protect the sills. Go the whole hog aand you will end up damaging it. And then be looking for something else for her to drive.

I have had my Rangie offroad a couple of times and have driven it further then i thought i could or ever would. But as much as i can see that a couple of lockers and some lift would be good i also remember where i started last time and know where it would end up. It is my Tow Car and that is how it will stay. Stock as a Rock.

Dude I used to use my lux for work EVERYDAY, that included the time around the 1st ttc, if I couldn`t drivie it monday morning I couldn`t work, if I didn`t work I made no money if I made no money we didn`t eat, make house payments, make lease payments on the lux (I own it now), didn`t have money for fuel for wifes car bla bla bla bla. I never let that stop me from driving it.

Its no differant then with the 80 dropping the kids at school monday morning, at worst case mother inlaw lends us her car.

People that use that reason for not wheeling their rig are just farking pussies, its not a reason its an excuss and its a lame one

then go the sliders, barwork, lockers, etc

but in doing this, are you ever going to get the lux fixed while you have something else to wheel? thats more what Im sayin, not dont wheel the 80 full house. just dont call it a POS ;)

Our plans for the 80 are

2 inch suspension lift (has it now)
2 inch body lift (has it now)
Shower (has it now)
35`s (we only have 33`s but have DAZ`s 35s on it ATM)
Snorkel (has it now)
ARB bar, not tube and not the allot pos on it now
arb or simlar side rails.
rear bar and wheel carrier
long range tank
front and rear locks
winch off the lux, lux will get new faster winch
and what ever swampers that I run under the lux.

Basicly just a good tourer, this is one of the reasons why we got it.

I`m not worried about damaging it, before I started doing comps I only put 2 small dents in the lux in over 3 years of driving it on hard stuff like you and I did when I was up there that year, that is about the hardest it will do as fair as rocks go, most of it will be vicy driving and thats mainly mud, ruts and hill climbs combining those things.

Yes it`ll stillget finished because if driving the 80 the wife and kids come to, farked if I want all of them with me on every single farking trip :bad-words: why do you think I only have a single cab and have pulled the bench seat out and put 2 buckets in, cause then the most that comes with me is 1 ;)
