Interesting point here.
For a day trip, what spares do you carry?
For a weekend what spares do you carry?
What things would you like to take, but theres just no room?
Beastmavster wrote:I always carry a brakeline clamp offroad... they're good tools to have. One blown line = no brake pressure and no brakes about 2 pumps later.
Spare brake fluid would be good... but you take everything you need your whole garage and it wont all fit :(

I always carry spare belts, brake fluid and clamp, oil to top up in case + cable ties, gaffa tape and wd40 and the toolkit + the usual array of fuses and screws / bolts etc.

if the line breaks, you can use a bolt and hoseclamp.. or vice grips...

Hoses and belts. If any thing else goes wrong a temp fix and motor home. Mind you I have spent more times repairing Jeeps and Tojo's on the trail so far.
Long trips, wheel hub bearings, hoses, belts, eletrical stuff, tools, water pump, liquid metal, a couple of welding rods, engine oil and brake fluid. Oh and diff oil now after the Big Red jump, see the link in the signature.

Not much... it's a GQ and they dont break
Lots and lots of tools, but few spares besides water, oil, wire and duct tape, fuses, spare tyre.
GOt spare belts somewhere and sometimes put them in.

do you really go through that many CV/hubs that you need to carry spares?
also, do MQ/MK hubs go very often - how many k's do you usually get out of them?

Bilby,
The damage on the big red jump was a bent diff at the knuckle, leaking seal on passenger side and the Tough Dog shock lasted antoher six months before it let go.
I still managed to drive all the way from Birdsville to Sydney via Isa, Alice springs, Ayers Rock and the Oodnadatta track with a little detour to Mount Buller for some skiing with the occasional check on the diff oil and a wheel alignment.
