Just broke first cv on 80 series.

What brand of cv do u's recomend for-

80 serries 6inch suspension lift 35's locked front and rear driven fairly hard but not extreme.

Also when it went, my power steering pump was making a terible sound.
but seems ok now.

Do power steering pumps giveway easily on an 80 series?

Thanks Steve.

which engine? was the noise from a squealing belt (petrol?) or from the pump itself? the pumps are pretty strong but they do die eventually, the telltale is squealing noises all the time when turning full lock, eg carparks etc. but if it was just overloaded at the time you might have just been hearing the fluid bypassing the overload valve - if there's no noise or leaks now it is probably ok.

as for the CVs the factory ones are pretty strong, usually the front diff ring and pinion bite the dust before the CV's, and if you strengthen the CV's you only add to the risk of busting diff gears. I'm sure opinions on this will vary.

cheers

Brian

petrol
Pretty sure it wasn't the belt.
Probably the by pass valve. Didn't know of such a thing.

most hydraulic systems have a pressure relief bypass:
